Bangladesh Beat Pakistan 2-1: How the Tigers Dominated a Series That Had Everything

Three matches. Three different stories. And at the end of it, Bangladesh standing with the series trophy at Shere Bangla National Stadium — winners of their second bilateral ODI series against Pakistan, eleven years after the first. The Pakistan tour of Bangladesh 2026 delivered exactly what cricket in this country needed: a home series of genuine quality, played in front of a roaring Mirpur crowd, that produced a debut century, a maiden five-wicket haul, and a final over that nobody watching will forget in a hurry.

This is how it happened. This is a WinTK Official publication.

1st ODI — Nahid Rana Sends Pakistan Crashing for 114

Shere Bangla National Stadium, Mirpur. March 11, 2026. Bangladesh won the toss and elected to bowl — a decision that looked bold on paper and looked brilliant within twenty overs.

Nahid Rana produced a spell for the ages. In seven overs of sustained, fearsome pace and bounce, he claimed five wickets for 24 runs — a maiden ODI five-wicket haul that dismantled Pakistan's batting lineup with something close to cruelty. He picked up a wicket in each of his first five overs. Mohammad Rizwan fell for 4. Salman Agha could manage only a handful before Rana got him too. By the time the Pakistan innings was wrapped up in 30.4 overs, they had mustered only 114 all out — their lowest-ever ODI score against Bangladesh. Faheem Ashraf's 37 was the only innings of any substance. Captain Mehidy Hasan Miraz chipped in with 3 for 29 through his off-spin, and that was effectively the match.

Chasing 115, Bangladesh needed 15.1 overs. Tanzid Hasan Tamim was electric — 67 not out off 42 balls, seven fours and five sixes. He and Najmul Hossain Shanto added 82 for the second wicket, the result never in doubt from the moment Rana completed his five-for. Bangladesh won by 8 wickets with 209 balls remaining — the biggest win by any measure the country had ever recorded against Pakistan in the format.

Nahid Rana was named Player of the Match. His post-game comment was characteristically direct: "This Mirpur ground, it was my first match. International start was special." Follow the Bangladesh cricket community at WinTK Community for live discussions and fan reactions.|

Bangladesh Tour of South Africa 2026: Test and ODI Series Preview

2nd ODI — Pakistan Hit Back Hard

March 13, 2026. Pakistan were not going to absorb two one-sided defeats without response, and they didn't. In the second ODI they posted 274 and restricted Bangladesh to 114 in a rain-affected match decided by the DLS method — a comfortable 128-run victory that levelled the series. Maaz Sadaqat scored a century. Pakistan's bowlers were sharper. It was 1-1 going into the decider, which was exactly what the occasion deserved.

3rd ODI — A Classic in Mirpur

March 15, 2026. Pakistan captain Shaheen Shah Afridi won the toss and put Bangladesh in to bat. What followed was being called the best ODI of the year so far.

Tanzid Hasan Tamim walked to the crease and immediately took on Haris Rauf. His first two scoring shots were sixes — a flick over long leg, then a slash over point. He went after Abrar Ahmed early, pinging him over long-off. He hit Maaz Sadaqat and debutant Saad Masood for a six each. By the 33rd over, he danced down the track, lofted a flighted delivery over long-off, and raised his bat to the sky. Maiden ODI century. 98 balls. Six fours, seven sixes. He kissed the turf. The Mirpur crowd made enough noise to register in Chittagong.

Tanzid opened with a 105-run partnership alongside Saif Hassan (36 off 55). He added 53 more with Najmul Hossain Shanto (27). When he fell in the 37th over — cutting a long hop from Abrar Ahmed to Afridi at cover — Bangladesh were well placed but had lost their engine. Litton Das made 41 off 51 and Towhid Hridoy batted unbeaten on 48 off 44. Haris Rauf finished with 3 for 52 at the death. Bangladesh total: 290 for 5.

Pakistan's chase started disastrously. Taskin Ahmed struck in his first over, Nahid Rana removed Rizwan (4) and others in quick succession. Three overs in — 17 for 3. Then 67 for 4. The series looked over.

Then came Salman Agha. Walking out with 224 needed off 36 overs with six wickets in hand, Agha batted with calculation and fury. He and Saad Masood built a 79-run sixth-wicket stand. Mustafizur Rahman ended Masood's innings — stumps rattled, the debutant rushing down the pitch. Agha kept going. He brought up his century in the 45th over with Pakistan still needing 48 off 35. He did not celebrate. There was no time.

Agha and Shaheen Afridi added 52 off 49 balls, Afridi drilling two fours and two sixes in 37 off 38. With one over remaining, Pakistan needed 14 with one wicket left, Afridi on strike, Rishad Hossain bowling. Off the second ball, Rishad ran back under a skier — and dropped it. Twelve needed off two. A wide. A review. Then, on the final ball, Rishad stumped Afridi. Bangladesh won by 11 runs. Salman Agha's 106 off 98 — one of the finest counter-attacking centuries in a losing cause — was not enough.

Taskin Ahmed: 4 for 49. Mustafizur Rahman: 3 for 54. Nahid Rana: 2 for 62. Tanzid Hasan: Player of the Match. Tanzid and Nahid Rana: joint Players of the Series.

T20 World Cup 2026: Full Schedule, Groups, and Where to Watch

What This Series Means for Bangladesh

Bangladesh missed the 2026 T20 World Cup due to political circumstances. This ODI series was the country's return to competitive home cricket, and the 2-1 win — achieved after losing the second match — showed a squad with genuine resilience and character.

Tanzid Hasan, 24, now has his maiden ODI century after close to three years at international level. In this series: 175 runs across three innings at an average of 87.50. His peers from the 2020 Under-19 World Cup — Tilak Varma, Yashasvi Jaiswal, Saim Ayub — have already established themselves as senior stars. Tanzid has taken longer, but Bangladesh will build their 2027 World Cup campaign in significant part around him.

Nahid Rana, meanwhile, has made Pakistan something of a specialist target across formats. His pace, bounce, and steep angles on the Mirpur pitch are a combination that Pakistan's top order simply has not found an answer to.

Captain Mehidy Hasan Miraz: "Definitely was an excellent match. Boys played really well. Throughout the series, Taskin and Nahid bowled really well and they have a good partnership. I am really happy." For the latest Bangladesh cricket updates and fan discussions, visit WinTK Community and follow WinTK Official. This is a WinTK Official publication.
